Raw mango (Kairi) Ghasshi

Recipe Description: 

In the memory of my Grandmother (Mother's mother).She was a very good cook. All kinds of Aamchigelen dishes were very yummy.

Ingredients: 

Raw mango - 1 or 2 (as per taste, instead of Tamrind paste)
Fresh grated Coconut - 1 cup
Red chilli - 6 to 8 (as per taste)
urad dal - 1 tablespoon
Fenugreek seeds (Methi) - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - half teaspoon
salt - as per taste
Garlic - 1 (obtion for seasoning - curry leaves and mustard seeds)
Oil - 1 to 2 tablespoon (as requaired)
Jaggary - as per taste

Instructions: 

Chop a raw mango into 6 to 8 pieces. Cook the pieces with salt and 1/2 cup of water in the vessel.

Roast red chillies with a little drops of oil in a small pan. when it turns crispy remove and keep aside in a plate.

Heat 1 teaspoon oil in the pan. Fry urad dal till it turns gloden; add fenugreek seeds stir well for 10 to 12 seconds and switch off the flame.

Grind the grated coconut, rosted red chillies, turmeric powder finely. Keep adding cooked mango-water in between. Add fried urad dal, fenugeek seeds, grind again for 1 to 2 minutes to make smooth masala, add in cooked raw mango,add more 1 cup water, salt (if necessary ), add jaggary for taste and boil for 5 to 7 seconds (Note: don't boil more as water and coconut masala get seperated) and put off flame.

Mash garlic cloves.Heat oil in the pan, add mashed garlic,fry till dark brownish and add in boiled mango masala.

Note: Instead of mashed garlic, we can use mustard seeds and few curry leaves for seasoning.
Serve this tasty Ghasshi with hot rice instead of dal.
