Keerlu ani Kulta Kodel
spicy gravy of tender bamboo shoots and horse gram. this is a very traditional amchi dish
kulit or horse gram 1/2 cup
keerlu or tender bamboo shoots diced - 1/2 cup
corriander seeds - 1 tsp
methi seeds - 1/2 tsp.
red chillies - 4
coconut grated - 3/4 cup
tamarind paste 1 tbsp.
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
salt to taste
oil 1 tsp.
for seasoning - garlic crushed and 1/2 tsp. oil
Boil the horse gram and bamboo in a cooker and retain the water.
Roast corriander seeds, methi seeds and red chillies in oil
Grind coconut, tamarind, turmeric and the roasted ingredients into a smooth paste.
Add the ground masala to the boiled horsegram and bamboo and bring it to a boil.
Add adequate water and stir from time to time.
Add salt.
Season it with oil and crushed garlic.
Serve with rice or chapathis.
