Amma used to prepare a vey dry pickle of gooseberries-Awala which I used to love.But sadly she is nomore & I cannot figure out how it is prepared.Could some angel tell me how?God bless.

My mother makes awalya lonche. The lonche is almost dry and is light yellowish in color mainly because of mustard I think. Does this description fit what you are looking for? If so, I can ask my mother for the recipe and post it.

That description does not fit the bill.The one mom made looked a dark reddish brown.All the same you may share your recipe if it is not too troublesome.God bless.
